Search Engines
JET - Apprenticeships & Traineeships

JET provides three different job search engines, allowing users to chose their personal favourite.

JET is a web-based Apprenticeships & Traineeships job board and information site for jobseekers. It provides useful help on how to obtain apprenticeships or traineeships, how to prepare for job interviews, how to write coverletters and much more. Addictive Media was asked to first conduct a usability analysis of the original JET website and in turn redevelop the site making it user-friendly and accessible.

Objectives

  • Analyse the target audience, the business and the competitors in Australia and worldwide
  • Plan and develop a user-friendly interface and new functionalities
  • Make the website accessible using advanced CSS
  • Create custom statistics for the administrators and the partner companies

User Testing

Together with RMIT IT Test Labs our team conducted user testing of the original website with a wide range of target audiences. We invited jobseekers, parents, career teachers and administrators to work through particular user scenarios. The consultants observed the results, analysed them and reported the findings to the JET partner companies. Our Addictive Media team then consulted the clients in finding the perfect solution for a user-centered product.

Analysis

As part of our consulting we were asked to proceed with our thorough usability methodology, including:

  • Competitor analyses
  • User scenarios
  • User profiles
  • Content Maps
  • Decision Diagrams

The results and recommendations of the above process allowed us to create mockups and sitemaps as blueprints of the planned website, giving us and our client a comprehensive overview of what functionality will be available and how the user will interact with the website.

Development

In the third stage we created the user-centered interface for the JET website. Our goal was to develop a product that is easy to understand, fast in information delivery and fun to use. Our programmers applied advanced PHP scripting to create a system that follows the users around the website, dynamically providing them with their individual options depending on their status and location in the site.

Accessibility

Following the Addictive Media Accessibility Policy our team created a website that strictly follows current web development standards and guidelines. This adds the JET website to our long list of products that are targeted to be accessible by all users, with or without disabilities.
